Sixth Grade Democracy Videos- Ms. Aliza Peyser and Rabbi Jeremy Hellman

The sixth grade students are about to complete their study of Ancient Greece.  As we learned about Athens, the birthplace of democracy, we engaged in discussions about freedom, government and our rights as citizens.  After watching a number of videos included in an international democracy video contest, we were inspired to create videos of our own.  The challenge was to create a video which completes the thought "Democracy is..."  The students quickly got to work and combined their knowledge, creativity, and humor to create videos which reflect various aspects of democracy such as freedom of speech, rule of majority, freedom of learning, and the power of giving everyone a say.  Congratulations to our video contest winners!
